Calgary would be a great choice!
International airport, wide range of outdoor and indoor activities, affordable housing, lots educational institutions, diverse population. We lived in Calgary for 13 years and I went to SAIT. The Chinooks give me headaches or I would settle there for awhile. Lots of park development for walking and biking.

I live in a small Canadian Prairie city with a spouse and a dog. We retired in 2018. This is what life is like.

Except for the access to ports...
ReplyDeleteIt'll be Toronto or Montreal
They don't need a water port do they? Denver is land locked. Calgary is a Canada Customs location with good rail and air access.
ReplyDeleteWe're hoping it will be Windsor/Detroit.... The option of a more central, international hub is appealing to Amazon
ReplyDeleteAnd Windsor could use the boost!
Let's see now -- Amazon buys ads with Breitbart, continues to buy ads with them after it is revealed Breitbart's agenda is white nationalism, then declares: golly, the Trump presidency is so scary we might leave! Not consistent, to put it mildly.
ReplyDeleteI can see it being out east for sure.
ReplyDeleteI have the tender at the office I'll have to take a look. A few of us ecdev folks are placing bets
ReplyDeleteHow about Amazon stay where it is and I'll move to Canada!
ReplyDeleteCanada isn't an easy place to move to. You basically have to be a refugee, skilled worker or rich or supported by family or otherwise sponsored. It was easier when we were part of the commonwealth.
ReplyDeleteCass Morrison, I inquired about moving to Canada in the '90s. They mailed me the whole package and it included just what you said.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame because there are many people who have lots to offer but don't get the chance.
ReplyDeleteYou bet. I'd be willing to --- CANADIAN ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITIES: THIS IS A JOKE -- sneak across the boundary in the middle of the night and pick crops or make hockey sticks or do whatever work there is.
ReplyDeleteWinter camping is not fun...but it is character building.
