I have one friend where we try to use exclusively emoji on Messenger. but it is as a joke. usually, just the smiley face, the frown, or a heart.
I use the smiley, winky, and slanty faces, and that's about it. Except with my wife, we often use Google hangout's stickers (I often use the frowny cat with the clock).
