There is a lot of violent near history (the subject is history since 1890). No need to show a ultra-violent re-enactment or a religious event from outside that period.

There were warnings (some may even call them trigger warnings!) about violence that dulled any inclination I had to see it. I only hope I would have had the guts to walk out of the class like some of the students did.

  1. My English teacher showed 1984 to our class once.

  2. I can see that being shown in English; disturbing but not torture porn. I can't see the Passion of the Christ being shown in a History class covering 1890 to present.

  3. Cass Morrison You mean the teacher didn't even get the millennium right?

  4. The movie was totally off topic. I would hesitate to show any dramatized history media during a class unless it was specifically a documentary like world at war

  5. Passion of the Christ was religious propaganda which gave Christians a reason to take their family to a violence porn movie. I saw it with my church, back when I attended church. It was one of the many discomforts that eventually pushed me away.
