Newest Samsung AMOLED screen almost has no bezel

Newest Samsung AMOLED screen almost has no bezel
Samsung has been striving to improve the user experience in every way they can and I for one haven't been a fan of Samsung for years now. Mostly due to their poor customer. Aside from that, their devices have been getting better. The TouchWiz interface has ...

  1. I wish they'd just stick to hardware and release a phone with raw Android on it though.

  2. That would disable many of the features on the phone and could really affect phone performance. That's probably why there's no going back once you unlock the bootloader. I've rooted and ROMed and so many things don't work well (and that was years ago) that I just don't see the point.

Having said that, you can buy an unlocked phone from Samsung and keep it unlocked which is another plus. My S6 is for the UAE and I'm using it no problem on Bell/Virgin.

  5. I've owned various smartphones since 2010. Never have I ever wanted the bezel to be smaller let alone disappear completely. I question the functionality of a bezel less display. When I hold my phone, my fingers wrap around the front of the phone a bit. If the phone had no bezel, my fingers would obstruct a portion of the screen.

This bezel less display seems to be just a gimmick that sounds cool, but in practice sucks. People would probably end up buying into the coolness despite the fact that it is not so functional. It's going to be the new touch screen keyboard. They suck. You can't type on them without making loads of mistakes, but people end up accepting them because of the coolness factor.

  8. Cass Morrison Device specific features should be done through applications, not screwing with the base OS. I hate helping people when they have problems with their Samsung devices. Even just changing how the settings works makes it much more difficult to use. Their purpose of course if to get people wanting to buy a Samsung, rather than and Android. They'd love to have the kind of platform lock-in Apple has, and has taken a few runs at it already. It's unlikely I'll ever buy one of their devices again. I got into rooting and running custom ROMs because of Samsung devices. Since I switched to Nexus, I really don't have the need anymore, and recently even stopped rooting.

I'm not even sure why anyone accepts buying a locked phone. It shouldn't even be legal to lock them.

  9. Many times hardware is required for those features (sensors for example) so it's going to be difficult to not screw with the base OS. I'm glad you are enjoying your Nexus devices and hope Pixel fits your needs if the Nexus line is discontinued Douglas McMillan . Choice is good.

  10. Over here we can buy ours unlocked and if it's locked to a carrier all it takes is a call and they send you the unlock code
