The app "Google Goggles" has been around for years and can recognize nearly anything instantly... Famous buildings, cityscapes, plants, insects, animals, even products such as Adidas Sneakers with model name... What it is able to recognize is growing exponentially as more data is added by users... It's free.. Give it a try..

  3. Google goggles did the same thing. I don't know what happened to it though.
The Getty center here in Los Angeles encouraged its use.

It could be one of the apps Google has pulled from Apple by not renewing the licensing contract starting back when Apple sued Samsung 7 times in 7 foreign countries for copyright infringement and lost all 7 times.. Then, the "American phone made 100% overseas" took it to the American courts and won $1.1b USD... Samsung is Google's number one customer and owns more than twice the market share than any other company so Google decided that as Apple's licenses expire, they will not be renewed for Google owned apps.. This was the reason that Apple had to scramble to buy a mapping company and get it up to speed because Google Maps was the first to expire..

Long way to say that you may not be able to get it on iOS anymore..

I checked the Google Play Store, it's still available for Android (which as you know is owned by Google)..

    Exactly our point..
Goggles can do this "specific case" as well as a nearly infinite amount of other cases...

  10. Tyger Jones it's not available on iOS. There's no particular reason that it shouldn't be. Apple and google have pretty much reconciled.
I'll give this app a try.

Although the judgement was reduced on appeal to $880m USD, Google and Apple are far from reconciliation. As recently as November, after Apple petitioned Google for returned access rights customized to their platform, Google put out a statement saying "When Apple starts making hardware that's current and can handle our vision in an acceptable manner, we may consider returning to iOS specific versions. At this time, they are basically 4 years behind their top competitors on Android and it is just not in our best interest financially to cater to their marketing strategy."

And when Google passed Apple as the "Most Valuable American Company" in December (by Net Asset Value), Apple returned the animosity by bringing billions of dollars back to America... But Google remains ahead..

I actually think that they (Google) probably just didn't find value in updating an older, not very popular app on iOS.. It was probably very inexpensive to maintain it on Android since it was designed for it.
