No parliament whips instead of electoral reform.

No parliament whips instead of electoral reform.

When I did the electoral change questionnaire, it was more important that my MP reflected constituents and voting is made easier than more complex voting. If you run in a party you should, in general agree with the core values but different points need to be well argued and back benchers become more important. This is the change we need.

Now Senate, stop sitting on the amendment granting Trans people human rights. If bathrooms are such a concern, make stall doors seal like regular doors and remove urinals to make all bathrooms gender neutral. Also, being told your being a jerk in response to a public act is not the same as being delegated to a sub human class so people can fire you or deny housing.

  1. The way the system works now, the leader of the party has final say on whether a candidate can run as a member of the party. The leader can use this as a way to ensure members vote with the party. If you do not, next election you may have to run for a different party or as an independent. That may greatly reduce your chances of reelection. That is why for the most part, members of a party vote with the party. Unless this changes, it is very rare that MPs vote with the party instead of voting based on the sentiments of the constituents.

  2. Thanks for explaining that, I knew they got to decide who runs, there was just that young woman who won the candidacy and some guy was bitter he didn't get to run. The Liberals seem to be making a change for votes so that's something.

  3. Cass Morrison I think there is some sort of election process as well where delicates get to cast some sort of ballot. Not sure exactly how it works. Still the party leader has to endorse the chosen candidate.
