Misses out completely on the roles of publicly owned multi-national corporations. They will be the ones funding the oasis of green high density cities. They will be the buffer against piece work earnings with no health care benefits as well as providing a level of community services you now see through their charity work. They will suck up innovative small businesses and keep employment at levels that work for them.

I work for a multi-national. Community involvement, diversity, ethics are all part and parcel of ROI. Future planning pretty well ignores degrading regulation because of the publicity hit which ... affects their ROI.

I think the world building at the beginning of the TV show Continuum is pretty reflective of or direction at this point in time.
