We get politicians in Canada going on about core values. I think a core Canadian value is everyone gets to make decisions about their body as long as those decisions don't hurt anyone else another is laws can't be written to intrinsically benefit one group of people. The people who go on about core values don't seem to mean that because they would discriminate against anyone who is not straight, interfere with women's reproductive choices, people's end of life choices and religious expression.

The phrase "core values" is always used by the forces opposed to genuine, inclusive, multi-confessional democracy. It is the signature of fascism in all its forms.
ReplyDeleteIn the United States, Christianity was imposed on the people by the federal government through changing the national motto and forcibly rewriting the Pledge of Allegiance, all unconstitutional establishment of religion. This completely changed what the Christian religion is in this society, transforming it from a personal choice that is said to challenge people to be circumspect, to a tool of national conformity that destroys personal moral circumspection.
