The government is not inflicting a set of religious values on group but preventing groups from inflicting their values on others. I'm happy to let pregnant people make health decisions without inserting some else's unrequested values. If that makes you unable to apply for this particular funding so be it.

I'm happy to let God sort things out, why aren't you? For all we know heaven is crowded with generous, happy, sin-free beings who never had to be exposed to the ugliness of humanity.

  3. I've always said that if you want government money, then you have to abide by government rules. if you don't align, then you don't get funding.

if you have values/policies that are at odds against what the government says, then well.. you will have to vote someone new in.

it sucks that it may only be just one thing that makes you ineligible, but dem's the brakes for most types of funding opportunities. unless you tick all the boxes, don't bother.

  4. I'm willing to entertain the notion of Christians getting a veto over federal funding only on basis of parity of all the other religions getting such funding, in particular, including religions the Christians do not like such as Satanists.

  5. Ryan Moore it's their own choice to draw that line. I have no problem with that.

  6. Andres Soolo I feel your proposal could fog away some more radical possibilities... I have an issue with Satanists by way of liking Satan as (by secret standard ;)) a self-reference of those denouncing Satan (in particular when doing so in the name of God). Therefore, at first blush, the Satanists' interpretation of the name of Satan competes with mine here, even though we share adversary. But I can't yet exclude changing my mind after mulling it over;)
