I thought Milo might be missing Duffy so I brought out his old puppy.

Milo and his Puppy were inseparable until Duffy came along. And that only changed because Duffy was much rougher with Puppy than Milo. Duffy chewed like all puppies do and Puppy quickly lost its eyes and nose. Milo seem happy to have it back.

In other news, I went to exercise class today. Didn't remember how much loss saps energy

  2. Sorry to hear about your pup. Animals get just as attached to each other as we do to them. Growing up we had a cocker spaniel and border collie who were just a few months apart. When the cocker died, it took a lot out of the border collie. He went downhill quickly and only lived a couple of months longer.

Our dog now is really hard on toys. If it has a nub, ear, nose, arm, anything, first thing he does is chew them off. But he also sucks on his toys a lot, and kneads with his feet. Supposed to be stress relief. He's a strange little guy sometimes.

I'm sure having his old toy back is quite comforting for him.

  3. Oh God, I'm so sorry. But what such happy memories, and I know he was so lucky to have you as his mum. Sending love from the UK. x

  4. Grief and loss are life-depleters. I despair of people tryin' to cheer up the grieving. My heart goes out to you, Cass. No Hallmark Card sappy sentiments from me. Know this, though, when I meditate, as I do pretty much every day, I do contemplate the suffering of those I know. And you'll truly be in my thoughts.

  5. It's a big time of change for us. Fred got retired Wednesday and we had expected him to have some fun being home with 2 dogs. Fred doesn't think Milo misses Duffy the way we do. I don't know. Milo was out on the deck and he did the bark that would get Duffy outside too.

I did a collection called the Duffy project but didn't put people following me as followers to be notified.

  6. Cass Morrison Ecch... every sentient being suffers, so the Buddha said. Trying to understand other species is awfully tough. It's tough enough trying to understand the suffering of those we know and love....
