I grew up in a city with prominent and easily distinguished mountain ranges at each of the main compass points. As long as you could see one of them, you were good. I remember how disoriented I felt when my grandparents took me on a road trip and we crossed the Great Plains. Somewhere in Kansas I asked how people kept from getting lost in this place.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Vancouver. Close mountains are north, far mountains are east. In Lloydminster I think I go more by sun as there aren't a lot of stand out geological features.
