We look to tofu and chickpeas as main protein sources when cooking at home. With meat substitutes check ingredient. A lot are high carb low protein.

  2. I process this as "flesh is good!!!!" moderation being key, but this furthers the logic that humans need meat! Beans are awesome, as are veggies... But the brain as well the rest of the body greatly benefits from having meat in its diet.

  3. Lieonte Munoz Meat is certainly one way of getting protein but not really available to a wide population even after agriculture because it's expensive. There are plant based proteins available for times of scarcity which are also good.

  4. I’ve eaten no meat, by that I mean no animal flesh, since 2000, and whereas I do have to make conscious efforts to get enough protein and vitamins, it has been well worth it.

  5. Cass Morrison I fully agree.. I wish developing nations had access to red and white meats... I imagine what could be learned, discovered, invented if we as a world populace would treat these nations as we do our own. Grain aid subsidies just ain't cutting it.

  6. Brian Arbenz though I still ingest meats, I do fast from them for 30+days every few months. I think this study is speaking to developing minds. I applaud your abstinence sir!
