Want to be more focused? Put your phone on SILENT.
Notifications jerk our attention away from tasks. Researchers found that, far from causing anxiety, getting people to put phones on silent increased their focus. Putting it out of sight even lowered self interruptions in some subjects. It's a small study but if you feel stressed and need a mini break, or to do project work, turn off your notifications and plan your interruptions.
