I've just seen the first 2 episodes and like it so far. Hearing it descripbed as "Canadian Firefly" did it for me.

I like it. The main guy starts as a douche for sure. The story telling is good.
Douglas McMillan It was a British sci-fi series that started in the late 70's. It lasted 4 seasons. I first saw it in the late 80's. You can find it on YouTube. I finished watching it a few years ago.
