Obesity = abnormal or excess fat that impairs health. Not weight or BMI.
Not to say you shouldn't optimize fat levels rather decide how much effort you want to expend on food and exercise if you are able to do routine tasks and don't need medications. Not needing medication is a big driver for us so we work towards a healthy diet.

I live in a small Canadian Prairie city with a spouse and a dog. We retired in 2018. This is what life is like.

Handy grammar infographic. Which errors do you make? I know there are some spell checkers make on my behalf. https://www.grammarcheck.net/wr...
My family has issues that I am currently, according to my doctor, doing a damn good job of controlling via healthier food choices (mostly portion control) and moderate exercise, and I don't even really feel like I'm doing anything I don't really enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAnd well, maybe it's just me, but exercising together is hella sexy! LOL
(You're right. Nothing about me is hella sexy! )
I lost 80 pounds (that's U.S. weight, not British money) about eight years ago and have kept if off, relying on portion control, which is the only truly effective method. I live in the very center of the region that gave the world high cholesterol fast food, cigarettes, liquor and coal-fired electric power. The effects are obvious. Kentucky and Southern Indiana are the obesity and breathing problem capital of the developed world. Disability and mobility limitations on people over 45 are everywhere. We were all taught that going with king coal and our tobacco industry, as well as bowing to Colonel Sanders as the epitome of success, would keep us prosperous. Today, this place is dying for lack of knowledge of healthy alternatives.
ReplyDeleteLast time I lost weight was when I started walking to work and cut back on junk food {aka candy}
ReplyDeleteFive months ago I moved to an apartment closer to bus lines and very near two superb ice cream stores. Less walking, more ice cream. Bad combination.😮
ReplyDeleteBMI is science for populations not individuals.
ReplyDeleteI just read Dr. Sharma's page. I like what he says, and I like that there is a project to curb overdiagnosis of illnesses in general. We need that!
