Haven't seen yet...but it's on the list.

Very realistic depiction of war apparently so closing my eyes sometimes. You may want to consider that if you're taking kids. More serious type of movie.

  1. Just saw it yesterday. Best of the DC movies since Nolan's Batman trilogy.

  2. In case it helps to know, battle is depicted realistically in terms of being dirty, chaotic, and often without regard for who is harmed but this movie is virtually blood and gore-free. There are more scenes of superhero fighting than war fighting. I will say some of the war portions ARE very sad to watch because of the emphasis on the humanity of those involved, but there is not too much of that because the ultimate tone of the film is hope.

I found WW to be one of the best depictions of war in film that I've ever seen because it focused on the cost to all rather than some notion of Battlefield Glory. I generally do not like to watch films about war, particularly real life wars, because of the tendency to glamorize it but this film does not do that at all while still not being overly dark and heavy.

As for non-spoilery specifics, there is one scene with a hand over a wound and a little blood is shown on that hand. This is the only blood in the film which my second viewing confirmed. There are also a few brief shots of men with war injuries outside of battle situations that are framed with a humanitarian/empathetic lens which do not sensationalize the violence or bloodiness of them. There are also some bodies in battles but, again, they are not goreified.

    Anyway, hope this helps. :)

  3. For what it's worth, I'm a combat veteran with PTSD, and was able to sit through this entire movie. And I've walked out of many. I'd take my elementary school nephew & niece to see it if they were near. This film's message needs to be heard by children worldwide.

  4. The original article says to understand how your kids may react not that they shouldn't see it. The kindergarten call reaction is interesting though.
