I gave my S6 to someone to replace their S3.
I know a couple people still on S4s and looking to upgrade just for more on board memory. As Android matures, apps get larger. Android is pretty mature and phones should last several years.

I live in a small Canadian Prairie city with a spouse and a dog. We retired in 2018. This is what life is like.

I just upgraded my s4 to an s8. Planning on keeping it 4+ yrs like the old phone.
ReplyDeleteI love my S8. How are you finding it?
ReplyDeleteCass Morrison love it. Fast, great screen, great camera, great battery life.
ReplyDeleteI still have an S4. I wish it would break.
ReplyDeleteI still have my Nexus 5 ... about 4 years now.
ReplyDeleteI used my GS3 for about 3.5 years. I lent it to my friend last year when his GS2 started dying on him. That phone is 5 years old and is still working fine. I'm using a Nexus 6P now.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand not keeping phones for longer than 2 years. Maybe 5 years ago when mobile technology isn't as advanced, new phones are just way more usable than phones that came out 2 years before. Now, phones should remain usable for most people for 4 years. That's about how often I get a new PC for the past 25 years.
Yup Gene, I intend to keep my phone for many years.
ReplyDeleteCass Morrison Ironically, I will likely switch phones later this year. The reason is that I found a landscape physical keyboard mod for the Moto Z phones. I'm planning to get the latest Moto Z that is coming out this year.
ReplyDeleteI was on the fence about getting an S7 instead of an S8 and I'm glad I waited. Some times that happens.
ReplyDeleteI used my Nexus 4 for three years, until the battery started to give out. 45 minutes on a full charge on standby just wasn't usable. LOL The LG G4 that replaced it is still in use 1.5 years in, with a motherboard replacement after 9 months. But I still have a pair of fully functional Galaxy SII on emergency standby!
ReplyDeleteChris Pollard The person I sold my Nexus 4 to used it until March of this year when she dropped it. Battery life was still pretty good. We both used wireless charging most of the time. The slower charge would probably help extend life, but the higher temp usually generated I would have thought would shorten it.
ReplyDeleteA coworker bought mine for his wife. Not sure if she's still using it or not. He was going to replace the battery with a new one. It was an awesome little phone. Even with the glass back, which I didn't like, but it did look cool.
ReplyDeleteThe nice thing about the GS3 is that it has a removable battery. I actually bought an extended battery for it. It came with a different back plate to house the thicker battery. The down side of the extended battery is that cases for the phone no longer fit.
