Canada needs to get more "anally bureaucratic" with imports...
I just can't see that happening although it would improve employment rates. I really think Canadian producers would rather take the loss and export to the US. There are personal ties, certainly in agricultural, and snowbirds who contribute a lot to the US economy and would continue to do so even if it hurt the Canadian economy.

I like Mexico's tactics. There are only so many ways to deal with bullies ... just have to find the legal ones that will push their buttons. With yahoos like Trump, the traditional Canadian role of polite consensus-maker simply isn't going to accomplish anything. Trade agreements shouldn't be one-sided, and that's all the US is pushing for right now. "all for us, none for you" isn't a reasonable offer.
