I'm not sure about the scope the phrase covers but it's always good to discuss with the culture to be honoured that it is indeed at least respectful.
I live in a small Canadian Prairie city with a spouse and a dog. We retired in 2018. This is what life is like.

There is literally no such thing as "Cultural appropriation".

Yeah, I'm not sure either. I think it comes up because everything is monetized so people feel ripped off when they don't get their share. Otherwise it would be thing like intellectual theft or libel or something.

If somebody wants their share, they should make their share.
As I mentioned, specific examples are necessary to have any real discussion about it, cause otherwise we're not sure we're talking about the same thing.
