Pretty damn cool! Gotta admit, didn't know of this. Of course 1967 was my fledgling year on rock ice and snow... still, this is history book stuff.
ReplyDeleteBack then we used rope slings tied onto the climbing rope with a Prrusik knot to ascend for self rescue. Now the mechanical aluminum ascenders are the norm. And the clothing...what a difference! High altitude climbing had began to improve gear but the average climber would likely have been in wool knickers or pants.
