I think we all expect to lose control of messages after we send them. That's why information changes based on medium and levels of trust.
I understand where privacy advocates are coming from but even with revenge porn and cyber bullying for criminal charges it's best to have direct sources of information. A reasonable expectation, to me, excludes authorities but cannot be the only evidence.
