The "methods" portion of a scientific paper is the most important so results can be reproduced by a different lab and verified.
Reproducing results should be the jumping off point for next level research and the reason there needs to be robust publically funded research. I did research in the 80s and even three money was disappearing from research as if there is never any reason to optimize systems.
