We feed hard food, give raw bones and get dentals done every 3 to 5 years.
I brushed Teak's teeth because he built up plaque so quickly. Duffy's teeth get really bad at the end, perhaps because of the kidney disease. When Hobbes comes I want to start brushing teeth right away. He'll also get baths (no soap) and nail clipping like Milo and Duffy did as pups.

We've taught our dog to let us brush her teeth each night, and she seems to be okay with it. A friend taught his greyhounds to let him scrape the plaque off their teeth with a dental tool. It took a while, but he said it's really affected their later lives, with a significant reduction in dental problems.
