It doesn't seem to be defined (apart from duration of "at least 30 minutes") but I've seen definitions elsewhere in the literature referring to cardiovascular exercise as implying "heart rate of between 55% and 85% of maximum safe heartrate".
ReplyDeleteThe naive formula for "maximum safe heartrate" is (220 - age in years) but of course that's a very rough approximation.
Usually this means more than a "walking" level of exercise. Brisk walking, or uphill walking, or cycling, swimming, jogging, are almost always more than adequate.
Unfortunately, the Kentucky exercise routine is: One, Two, Three, Pop Can Top! One, Two, Three, Light Cig! One, Two, Three, Munch KFC!
