A&W franchise fees must be reasonable because they're everywhere. I didn't know a restaurant could stop you from sharing food you bought.

It was interesting reading on Twitter (the full story was on Facebook but I'm not on that.) It was pretty clear it was a long standing management rule that was well known through the local whispernet. It was thought to be just a rumour. The woman may well have been aggressive at some point but perhaps it was triggered by a refusal to serve? Who knows. RCMP most likely did cruise the parking lot to see if there were any disruptions. Glad this guy stepped up and shone a light on this practice.

  1. No store can stop anyone from buying a meal for someone else. Otherwise friends could never treat each other to lunch/dinner! All the restaurant needs to worry about is did someone pay for it ... what they do with it, and who eats it, is none of their damn business. (See all the Tim Hortons drive-thru pay it forwards for how it doesn't matter who ordered and who paid.)

  2. That's what's so weird about this. The woman moved outside so it's not like she was loitering.

  3. I've done this before. I never give beggars cash, but if someone says they're hungry I'll buy them food. It's not the establishment's business who I'm buying it for.

  4. It’s sad how much people hare these days. But the more stress the govt puts on people, the worse it will get.
