After 25 years of work by activists, women can now drive while all the activists are imprisoned. Do Canadians think that's a fair trade? Liberal Gov't doesn't think so.

Sure we don't have a great track record with our indigenous population but we are working to improve and change comes slowly. In part that change comes from activist prompting. I support change from within rather than diplomatic pressures. If Canada folds the Middle East is ceded to "not necessarily benevolent" dictators. We are seen as an easy target because the US is busy trying to isolate us. Trudeau, for better or worse, represents the mores of the upcoming generation of world leaders. Which way will we go? Back to Nationalist win/lose diplomacy that foments war or forward to compromise and collaboration. Saudi Arabia's Prince would rather the former.

BTW Have your say on First Nations legislation

  1. The devil has a fit. Theocrats need a dictionary to understand the humanists. Human rights are our religion. What the SK does to rights activists, is to us pretty much like blasphemy is to them.

  2. I agree - it goes against my ethical code.

  3. Here's what the KSA leadership excels at. They have unlimited access to billion dollar weapons systems. And a bunch of guys with assault rifles and beat up pickup trucks fight them to a standstill. But there's always buses full of school kids going on summer vacation:

  4. The KSA is the single most significant proprietor of global terrorism. The only reason they haven't been bombed to nothingness like Iraq and Afghanistan were is because they have the USA by the leash. Iraq and Afghanistan were their scapegoats. Iran gets a bad rep for giving money to Hezbollah and Hamas, but neither the money nor the actions are a drop in the ocean compared to the contributions of the KSA.

Also it's not like the US, UK, and others don't pay various questionable groups to do their dirty deeds, done dirt cheap.

  5. Mahram Z. I have exactly one thing to say to any USA people who defend KSA: 15 out of 19. That's the proportion of 9/11 mass murderers who were Saudis. With allies like KSA the United States doesn't need enemies.

  6. Joseph Moosman I bet if you go digging in other major acts of terrorism, you'd find very similar ratios.

  7. Joseph Moosman I think that can't be repeated enough. Funny how they aren't on the US prohibited list.

  8. Cass Morrison well, here's one simple part of the explanation: too many people in Texas with too much money invested in KSA.

    It's beyond disgraceful.

  9. Disgraceful? Disgraceful is what Canadians face just with the justice they allow in Canadian streets by Canadian cops. And what do we great Canadians do? We stand in the streets and watch cops take the lives of many and all I see is Canadians with their cell phones out and watch as cops beat people to death, taser them to death, choke the life out of them and we all stand there and do nothing. It’s the same as the crowds at the Salem witch trials as people stood in the crowds and watched the burning of people at the stake. Or town hangings where crowds stood and watched with glee. Savages. And you talk about the KSA. Wow! You’re right. Absolutely disgraceful.
