I've have friends end up unexpectedly sleeping on a rock face. It's especially important to take an extra layer regardless of the time of year. The Rockies are much higher than they appear from roadways and parking lots. Get info at the Park gates.

  1. Terrain conditions change year to year - being familiar with a route doesn't assure current conditions.
I like to take along at least the minimum "in case I have to stay out".
Not always a stove but always a insulpad extra clothing food & water.

  2. It's amazing how quickly you can stack up an 18 inch rock wind break and it's sooo much better. Given available one man rock. Almost as if you had brought the sleeping bag!
