Even when a treatment is overwhelmingly successful it's important to understand why. Prevention is so much more effective than trying to overcome symptoms and spreading of disease.
Fascinating that only ONE treatment for smallpox is available and scientists aren't certain what made smallpox vaccination so effective since live vectors were used.
