Seems like there are some influential male tennis officials who really resent Williams' success - especially since she didn't quit after giving birth.

There are a lot of people who tolerate successful women because they think they'll be out of the "success pool" after they either get married or start a family. Do they think the spouse or co-parent will put a stop to the atypical behaviour or successfully competing? Successful women are unlikely to marry someone who will stifle their personality.

Williams is correct, she may pay the price but other women will see/hear her response and it seems many male players will support them as well.

  1. Cornet also got a code violation for doing something men do all the time. Her shirt was on backwards and when she realised, she quickly took it off and put it back on the right way. She was wearing a sports bra underneath. Meanwhile, male players often change their shirts on the court and have never been give a code violation.

On another note, this US Open has been marred with multiple questionable actions by the chair ump. In a Kyrgios match during a change over, the chair ump got down from his chair and gave Kyrgios a pep talk. He was heard saying to Kyrgios, "I like you," and "I want to help you!" Kyrgios was playing poorly prior to that incident and afterwards, he played better and ended up winning the match.

Just lots of weird things with the officials this tournament. Still the men's final to go.
