Parents have to talk about consent with all kids not just gatekeeping with girls. Modeling responsible alcohol use is a huge part of the equation.
Alcohol is truly a public health issue. Much bigger social problem than cannabis to me. Binge drinking is condoned if not encouraged and alcohol heightens the likelihood of violence from a certain segment of the population. Add in the cost of drunk driving and alcohol related liver failure and other diseases and there are reasons other than "morality" to tightly control its availability.
Bringing up boys can certainly seem overwhelming but the hardest part is supporting them when they are resisting peer pressure activities that demean others.

I notice that the parents actually seem to buy in to the "false rape claims are everywhere" narrative when they fear the son could be falsely accused for driving a drunk young woman home.
