These earth sheltered designs work even in the northern prairies. Add a rocket mass heater for the really cold nights and periods of cloudy weather and you'd be in business.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking closer to arctic circle but even at the latitude I'm at, there isn't enough sun to power a solar light around the solstice. There would have to be a low energy light source in the winter.
ReplyDeleteMike Oehler's design has been proven in northern Manitoba. Admittedly, you'll only be able to grow greens in the winter because of day length issues.
