Pretty well how everyone I talked to felt.

I live in a small Canadian Prairie city with a spouse and a dog. We retired in 2018. This is what life is like.

I happen to like Discovery so far. The Klingon story angle is intriguing and I'm looking forward to seeing more of it.
ReplyDeleteAside from the terrible theme tune and questionable casting of Michelle Yeoh as a captain, I think this shows a lot of promise. It's showing on Netflix here in the UK.
ReplyDeleteWorst. Visual. Design. Ever.
ReplyDeleteThe writing is meh to awful.
I'm sick to death of endless flashbacks
The editors should be fired and dragged through the the streets
I'll give in a couple more episodes, cause I know somebody on it, but I'm not hopeful
And I'm glad I'm not paying for it
I'm still on the fence. Right now, I find The Orville more entertaining. lol
ReplyDeleteClinton Hammond Worst visual design ever? Hardly. Go take a look at some other sci-fi show like Lexx. Visual design on that one seriously sucks.
ReplyDeleteI don't really care for the visual design on the Klingons or their ships and they still have pushed forth a good explanation on why they Klingons looks so different from the ones in Enterprise, TNG, DS9, and Voyager (TOS differences already being explained in an Enterprise episode). Their ships just don't look anything like any other Klingon vessel ever shown.
Hopefully the flashbacks will be kept to a minimum in future episodes.
The part I have the biggest problem with is everyone in the galaxy knowing the damn beacon was lit moments after it was lit. They stated the nearest base was 3 light years away, so it would have taken 3 years for the light of that beacon to be seen from that base and possibly hundreds of years for it to be seen in the far reaches of the Klingon empire or the Federation.
Chris Pollard I agree that I found the Orville more entertaining.
Lexx was bad.
ReplyDeleteSTD (eeew) is worse
Did they really name this show Discovery, knowing full well it would get abbreviated to STD!?!?!?
ReplyDeleteWTF
Chris Pollard I’m the opposite. I didn’t like Orville, but I plan to give it another go when I have some time.
ReplyDeleteClinton Hammond Yeah, that was a poor choice of names.
ReplyDeleteGene Chiu The first two episodes of Orville were meh for me, but third one was very good.
Gene Chiu I can see why many wouldn't like it. But I'm a fan of really intentionally bad shows. (See: The Tick!) :)
ReplyDeleteChris Pollard The Tick doesn’t look like something I’d be interested in.
ReplyDeleteThe Tick (2017) is miles better than the last live action attempt (blech)...
ReplyDeleteBut it still doesn't hold a candle to the cartoon
Clinton Hammond Agreed - but I kinda like the Arthur backstory they added to the new live version. It's actually interesting! Well, to me, at least.
