Not a surprise that pregnancy changes bodies. The range of change is interesting.

Another reason to focus on post partum support as well as infant support.

  1. I never figured out why people lavish all that attention on the babies, leaving the mother on the sidelines. With all of my children, the attention was lavished on their mother, both before and after pregnancy. I would grill her little New York Strip steaks, feed her anything she wanted, see, I figured it this way: any construction site needs a good food truck, right?

I've watched as other mothers have gotten into emotional trouble during and after pregnancy - and I've told their husbands the same thing: treat your wife like a well-run construction site. Sure, it looks all crazy while things are being hauled in, but act like you're the foreman. Don't leave your wife to her own devices, you have to get in there and help. And don't act as if you can go back to your old selfish ways after a few weeks, a postpartum woman will require lots of support - and in a thousand ways.
