Day 7. All that remains...
Our plan is to wash the floors tomorrow evening and check the work, leaving post it notes with comments. Great work, the only thing that bothers me is the total lack of PPE and guards on saws. I couldn't stay upstairs because it was just too loud. OTOH safety glasses and respirator would have been horrible with the heat we had (35C)
I live in a small Canadian Prairie city with a spouse and a dog. We retired in 2018. This is what life is like.

Handy grammar infographic. Which errors do you make? I know there are some spell checkers make on my behalf. https://www.grammarcheck.net/wr...
I wear safety glasses no matter the ambient conditions. I srsly don't like getting stuff in my eye, and the prospect of losing one is ... Motivating. Same story with the ear plugs. As to the respirator, while they are superior for protecting your lungs, I would have opted for a simple dust mask, again no matter what the ambient conditions are. Obviously, if I can set up sufficient air movement, I might only use the dust mask when using the saw.
ReplyDeleteGuards on tools are a unique case. Sometimes (rarely) the guards are an impediment to safe operation, but in most of those cases, there is a different guard available from the manufacturer to solve that issue. I have been known to remove a guard, but I always take a few minutes to consider the consequences.
It's all hard to enforce with a contractor, though.
He was working safely just the noise levels would have been intolerable for me. The dust is pretty heavy but still
ReplyDeleteCass Morrison Hehe, I take a hard line with that stuff ... I have a bit of a reputation around my plant for that stuff. If the noise is loud enough to interfere with a conversation at normal levels, and if the dust is visible, then well ... you know where I'm going, I'm sure haha. Anyhoo ... you're no stranger to this stuff, I trust you know what's what. It is exciting to see how close it is to completion, though!
