I would assume washable absorbent cloths because women worked along side men for many agricultural tasks.
Men so dictated the recorded narrative of life, a female researcher actually though women left a trail of menstrual blood!?! No female community or just special? I do remember the belt and diaper thing and just figured the disposable part was the advance because the belt sure wasn't.
