  1. Hmm, well ... it's tough to really choose a representative mealtype of an decade when there is so much variation in reality. Still, it's really interesting. In our house, we make something different almost every night, except when we make a giant pot of stew/sauce/whatever. Always 4 food groups (grains/starch; meat/protein; vegetables; dairy) and fruit or a small treat for dessert about 1/5 of the time. We don't meal-plan, though ... just a whole lotta flying by the seat of our pants. Been this way since ... well ... when I was a kid, so almost 4 decades!!! Oh, and half the plate is nearly always vegetables.
