Eat your veg first and take a short walk after a meal when you can.

A great reason to get away from your work station at lunch. It's a pretty easy thing to incorporate into daily life and helps with blood sugar.

  1. My dad is type-II. Getting him to cut sugar is like pulling teeth. It's spectacularly difficult. He is addicted to sugar, and won't admit it. Says he "doesn't feel normal" unless he eats sugar. I'm so frustrated I could scream. We've replaced sugar in our own house with xylitol which has the handy side effect of reducing the cravings for sweet things. But it comes with some digestive discomfort during the initial use (fades over time, but you have to maintain eating it). He just gives up altogether. And he puts ketchup on everything. I've even made some awesome home-made sugar-free ketchup, but it "doesn't taste the same" so he goes back to the sugar-laced stuff.

  3. Cass Morrison Yeah, he's been walking - and most often after his meals, so there's that. Gotta look at the upsides, eh?

  4. Hmm, I didn't know that walking had anything to with blood sugar. I've been diagnosed with "borderline diabetics". Will walking keep my blood sugar balanced & help with my glucose readings? And how far do I have to walk in the two way distance, to help it out?

  5. Mike Kinslow yes, walking will help. Gentle aerobic exercise is the ticket, and walking qualifies. The fresh air probably also helps. As to the distance, that's tough to gauge, I suggest talking to your doctor, but I can say it doesn't take very much to help. You don't want to torture yourself, and depending on your physical condition, you may want to take it really easy to start. We don't need people having heart attacks out there lol!

I'm sure you've had tons of dietary advice, so I'll spare you anything more than tons of fibre and avoid processed sugar haha!
