I always print critical reading-and I read mostly e-books. It's easier to mark up and discuss. These online consents are clickable rail cloak tickets. If a consent form is privacy or cost related there should be short, clear, specific sentences. Pretty well anything I sign in front of a rep has pages of info that the rep summarizes into short sentences then says sign/initial here. If the rep can do it, the contract should be written that way.

Some days I feel like we're playing love it or list it.

Some days I feel like we're playing love it or list it.

It's listed but one sunny day and I'm reconsidering. Plus we decluttered and did some staging and the place is so nice. Still long winters are hard. We built this home so it will be hard to find something as suited. Hopefully we see some nice stuff out west.

"When we design, build, manage, occupy or even just pass through a place, we change it. Whether we are conscious of it or not, these changes can embellish, adorn, colour, tint or taint that place in the eyes of the people who share it. These perceptions influence how appealing those people will find particular behaviours.

"When we design, build, manage, occupy or even just pass through a place, we change it. Whether we are conscious of it or not, these changes can embellish, adorn, colour, tint or taint that place in the eyes of the people who share it. These perceptions influence how appealing those people will find particular behaviours.

These influences might be seen as biases that are figuratively and sometimes literally set in stone. They are the result of design decisions that effectively dedicate spaces to a particular activity (or activities) and deter other activities. The illustrations below show examples of this.

These designed characteristics play an important role in framing the range of experiences that people enjoy, endure or miss out on. Over time this affects the trajectory of their lives, which has significant implications for human well-being.

If we consider the biases as messages we receive from our surroundings, we need to ask: are these messages biased towards helping or hindering us? Do they invite us to meet our needs? That is the fundamental precondition to thriving and fulfilling our potential".

I don't think there's a way around that other than to reduce sensationalism and give search terms rather than links? Hopefully this will prompt urban centers to do attractive design that segregates pedestrians from vehicles.

I challenge you to do a risk assessment of a routine task, recognize hazards and think of a control. You may save the life of someone you love.

I was the safety person at our work and still do training - 4 days on hiring. Now comments about how robust our training is makes sense, I use a safety video series then talk about how it applies at this workplace. The article writer is correct though. To be truly effective, hazard assessment has to be embedded at the K-12 level. Also all engineering courses should include ergonomics.

I've been in an industrial workplace for over 20 years. People are much better at wearing their PPE and following work instruction. They are not good at situational awareness and some people suck at looking after their free PPE. The COR program is a great way for businesses to lower WCB costs but implementing a structured reporting program but the workers have to be invested and, as such, I do think workers should be subject to fines for rule violations. Systems must have safety designed in but If it's convenient to follow the rule it's just as easy to not follow the rule. Look at the recent picture of those passengers wearing their masks. Those are designed to be impossible to wear upside down and air is flowing as soon as the masks are released. Slap it on your nose and mouth and it will work. People are oriented each flight and told to follow the attendant yet this design is a failure because there is nothing to indicate it goes over the nose and people still think they assist others before donning their own mask.

Meanwhile in Calgary, a neighbour is retaliating against kids playing in their own back yard using a noisemaker.

One of the things that drew us to our current location is that there were kids playing outside (they're all grown now) but there are intolerant people everywhere. If you don't want to hear kids, move deep into an adults only complex. Actually I'm pretty sure the neighbours could install noise dampeners around their yard like an airport.

Coach site autofills my city then doesn't accept the shipping address - finally figured out to check out with PayPal.

This has been really annoying, I even called tech support and got some guy who seemed to think I didn't understand how to fill out addresses. I felt he didn't actually understand English as spoken by a female customer. This time I was on the phone to make the order and just chatting with customer support when I tried PayPal and it worked. Bonus especially since I was using Ebates to get immediate cash back credit.

FYI Coach is not a budget brand although their stuff lasts nicely. I've been looking for a cute bucket bag for ages.

I know at work we've struggled with this. People saying they'll attend then don't. Last organized event, half the people didn't show up so everyone had to pay double.. very annoying. More so for restaurants as they say in the article. You do get it back when you arrive and you can just wait for a table.

Gaythia Weis suggests poor ergonomic design and certainly use of emergency equipment should be intuitive. In the time I've been flying I think the only change has been going from a stiff cup with an inflated bag that needed a sharp tug to a soft silicon mask and continuous positive air flow so the bag doesn't inflate.

For women wanting a baby to hold the fetus is more than a potential person but, as this woman recognizes, still less than a child. I probably always will. I remember I had this moment at the funeral, looking at the casket — it was very simple, pine, very small. I suddenly felt so profoundly grateful that it wasn’t one of my living children in the coffin. I think that really underlined to me again that there really is a difference. It is very difficult to put someone else's wellbeing before your personal desire. There is nothing noble about causing pain and suffering for another.

Vancouver is willing to let others take on the environmental cost - they buy from Washington state preferentially which is part of a country dismantling environmental protections. But that's ok because it's far enough away. They are dysfunctional as an industrial port - rail nor ships move through quickly. Workers can't afford to live close by driving up labour costs. The Netherlands moved their deep water shipping and Canada should on the west coast as well.

As for oil - a way to make oil shippable as a floating coal-like product was announced from US of A (a campus that could exist as a closed system because of energy efficiency and reusability) within the last year. Focus on scaling up the process and lowering the environmental cost of a spill by making it a easy to recover and offloading the chemical use to the end user (refineries). Repurpose coal equipment as much as possible.

It's important to balance preventative health measures with living. Immortality is unlikely in our time

I'm 57 and at this point my idea of wellness is to minimize the need for medications as I age and be able to do the activities I enjoy as long as possible. We constantly talk about our good fortune. Being born in Canada, having a middle class upbringing, not being really affected by economic downturns or health crises. Sure we worked hard but so did the people laid off in all the downturns. We had lucky timing.

This idea that everything, from wealth to health outcomes is a moral reflection is incomprehensible.

Fred eats vegan all the time, except when we are in the Cook Islands. There he eats what's available in restaurants and cooks fish. Our kitchen is switched, I can pretty well bake and we enjoy what we prepare and eat. It really has been a great experience for getting Fred to be more engaged at home, which will come in handy as we move into retirement.

As a result of being happy with what we're doing for health and environmental reasons, we're not like the ex-smokers that make people miserable with their choices. There should be no increase in credit limits on joint accounts unless both parties agree.

The problem with joint accounts is you can't get out until they are at zero and the person racking up the debt won't zero because they'll be on the hook for all their debt. I know this can be difficult for an abused partner but I would advocate having a personal account and moving to at a different bank that any joint accounts are held at should problems arise.
